FACADE IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM
Forsyth owes much of its growing popularity to its historic and
architectural charm. A key component of the Forsyth Better Hometown
program is to enhance the vitality of the area through a
preservation-based plan to upgrade the visual quality of the
business district, building upon the historic character of the
community.
Projects to consider as part of the improvement program include painting, installation of awnings, repairs to storefronts and front building facades, windows and masonry, enhanced lighting, and the rehabilitation or replacement of architectural details. The goals of the program are to encourage sensitive design and the use of quality materials and workmanship as well as promoting “business individuality” within the district. The façade grant program encourages property owners to continue to preserve those buildings that are listed in or are eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places. |
