Should I put out my
recycling bin when it is raining?
Absolutely! If you have something you can set on
top, that's fine, but nothing in your bin - - including
newspaper and white paper junk mail - - will be damaged or
destroyed by rainwater. Actually, the first step for most
recycling materials is to rinse or soak them in water. Not
putting your bin out on a collection day can cause problems
later. If many residents set out more recycling bins than usual,
recycling crews may end up working extra long days - - sometimes
from dawn until dark.
