Fire Department

IN CASE OF EMERGENCY, CALL 911

The Forsyth Fire Department is a crucial pillar of our community, composed of 26 dedicated team members who provide a wide array of public safety services. Our multifaceted responsibilities contribute significantly to safeguarding our city and its residents. Here is an overview of our key roles and expertise:

  • Fire Safety Education: One of the primary responsibilities of the Forsyth Fire Department is to educate the community about fire safety. We conduct educational programs, workshops, and outreach initiatives to raise awareness about fire prevention, safety measures, and the importance of early detection through smoke alarms.
  • Fire Inspection: The department conducts regular fire inspections of businesses, public buildings, and residential properties to ensure compliance with fire safety codes and regulations. These inspections help identify potential hazards and ensure that safety measures are in place.
  • Arson Investigation: In the unfortunate event of a fire with suspicious origins, we play a crucial role in investigating possible cases of arson. Our expertise helps law enforcement agencies determine the cause of the fire and gather evidence for legal proceedings.
  • EMS First Responder: Our team members are trained as Emergency Medical Services (EMS) first responders. We provide critical medical assistance in emergencies, such as accidents and medical crises, before paramedics or the ambulance service arrive, which can be vital in saving lives.
  • Hazardous Material Response: Dealing with hazardous materials is a specialized and highly important aspect of our work. We are trained to respond to incidents involving hazardous substances, such as chemical spills or leaks, and take measures to mitigate risks and protect the environment.
  • Firefighting: Of course, firefighting is at the core of our responsibilities. We are well-prepared and equipped to respond to fires of all types, sizes, and complexities. Our training and experience allow us to efficiently combat fires and protect lives and property.

Forsyth has an ISO (Insurance Services Office) rating of 2. This is a testament to the Forsyth Fire Department's excellence. This rating indicates that the department provides a high level of fire protection, which can lead to lower insurance premiums for residents and businesses in the community.
