Approval of the agenda – The agenda was approved as presented, 6-0.
- Approval of the minutes from the Council meeting held on September 8, 2026 – The minutes were approved unanimously, 6-0.
Approval of an alcohol license for Douc Van Nguyen dba C Nail Spa Salon at 438 Cabiness Road, Suite A – City Clerk Shayla Furlow stated that the application was properly advertised in the Monroe County Reporter and that the applicant had met all requirements.
The alcohol license was approved unanimously, 6-0.
David Hunter – Mr. David Hunter appeared before the Mayor and Council as a representative of the Pi Iota Iota Chapter of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. Mr. Hunter explained the various initiatives the chapter plans to bring to the City of Forsyth.
Following Mr. Hunter’s presentation, Councilman Wilder made a motion to officially welcome the Pi Iota Iota Chapter to the City of Forsyth through a proclamation. The proclamation passed unanimously, 6-0.
Financial Update – Assistant City Manager Regina Ivie provided the financial update. As of August 31, General Fund revenues totaled $7,544,251.85, or 65.5% of the total budget of $11,520,285. Year-to-date General Fund revenues exceed expenditures by $210,038.55.
Mrs. Ivie noted that 11 of 15 departments are operating below budget, LOST is expected to exceed budget by $300,000, Licenses and Permits are expected to exceed budget by $40,000, and the City’s lease of the water tower to Verizon Wireless began in August and will generate $2,200 monthly.
As of August 31, the City’s Combined Utilities Fund revenues totaled $12,493,037.96 and expenditures totaled $11,707,507.79, so year-to-date revenues exceed expenditures by $785,530.17.
